Jess Jessop incorporated Lesbian and Gay Archives of San Diego, now Lambda Archives of San Diego, in 1987 with a collection of materials that he and Doug Moore had gathered. Lambda Archives of San Diego is now one of the best-maintained collections of LGBTQ+ history in the country, which houses the Fritz Klein Bisexual Archives and a tremendous Pride collection. Our mission is to collect, preserve, and share the history of LGBTQ+ people in San Diego, Northern Baja California and Imperial County region. History is best reflected in the records and cultural artifacts of those people who are directly involved in its events. Lambda Archives is dedicated to preserving and interpreting this important historical material and making it available for learning. Lambda Archives of San Diego (LASD) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation governed by a volunteer Board of Directors.

Toward that end, we redact personally identifying information such as social security numbers, personal phone numbers, and home addresses. We also redact last names on sensitive materials that were not designed or intended for public circulation. If any materials on this site violate personal privacy, please contact us and we will address the situation immediately. No assumption should be made about any individual’s gender, sexual orientation or other characteristic based upon a mention of them in this digital repository.

# **Take Down Notice and Policy**

Digitized collections are made accessible for purposes of education and research. Lambda Archives of San Diego (LASD) has made efforts to give attribution to rights holders when possible and has taken steps to identify and remediate sensitive information that could threaten the privacy and security of individuals, organizations or other entities represented in the collections.

If you hold the rights to materials in our digitized collections that are unattributed, please let us know so that we may maintain accurate information about these
materials. If you are a rights holder and are concerned that you have found material on LASD sites for which you have not granted permission (or is not covered by a copyright exception under U.S. copyright laws), you may request the removal of the material by submitting a notice, with the elements described below, to **info@lambdaarchives.org**.

- Your contact information, including name, address, telephone number, and email address.
- The reason why you are requesting the take-down, such as copyright violation or privacy concerns.
- For copyright violation: A statement that you are the owner, or authorized to act on behalf of the owner, of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed and that you have a good-faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or
the law.

**Upon receipt of a request, LASD staff will:**

- Promptly acknowledge the request via email or other means of communication if you do not have an email account.
- Assess the validity of the request.
- Upon request, we may temporarily remove the material from public view while we assess the concern.
- Upon completion of the assessment, we will take appropriate action and communicate that action to you.

# **Explicit Content**

Though objects within the digital repository are not restricted, explicit materials that may not be suitable for some audiences are marked to notify users.
